Blueback Reservoir announce joint software development agreement with TechnoImaging LLC

PRESS RELEASE

Blueback Reservoir AS and TechnoImaging LLC announce joint software development agreement for expanded electromagnetic workflows on the Petrel**/Bridge software platform.

At this year’s EAGE in Barcelona, Blueback Reservoir AS and TechnoImaging LLC have signed an agreement to jointly develop an Ocean plug-in for Petrel** for modeling, inversion and migration of electromagnetic data.

The joint agreement brings together two leading technology companies.  TechnoImaging provides state-of-the-art 3D modeling, inversion and migration technologies for electromagnetic data, while Blueback Reservoir provides world class expertise in Petrel** Ocean development.

The new Petrel** plug-in will be based on the already existing Bridge plug-in from Blueback, and will focus on workflows for:

  • 3D electromagnetic modeling;
  • 3D electromagnetic inversion;
  • 3D electromagnetic migration.

These workflows will enable pre-survey feasibility and planning studies and the interpretation of existing survey data, as well as the re-interpretation of archived or multi-client survey data.

The new plug-in is fully integrated with the familiar Petrel user interface, and will be available for download and installation from September 2010. The new Bridge plug-ins will initially include workflows for 3D electromagnetic modeling with a subsequent release for modules pertaining to 3D electromagnetic inversion and 3D electromagnetic migration.

Dr. Michael S. Zdhanov, Chief Executive Officer of TechnoImaging said “To explorers and producers, the true value of electromagnetic data is only realized through integrated 3D quantitative interpretation.  Using the expertise of Blueback Reservoir, our groundbreaking technologies for 3D modeling, inversion and migration of electromagnetic data will now be easily and readily accessible to an even wider user group as  a plug-in to Petrel, the leading shared earth modelling platform.  Our collaboration with Blueback Reservoir will provide end users with full access to the most comprehensive and advanced workflows for the integrated interpretation of electromagnetic data via 3D modeling, inversion and migration.”

Paul Hovdenak, Software Portfolio Manager of Blueback Reservoir said “Electromagnetic technology has matured over the last few years, and by developing an easy-to-use solution on the Petrel platform, the technology and benefits from the improved subsurface workflows will reach out to many more geoscientists in the industry.”
