Blueback Reservoir was founded by a team of experienced geoscientists and developers from the company Technoguide. Technoguide developed the Petrel* suite of software, which was acquired by Schlumberger in 2003. Petrel has had a fantastic success and is now the market leading software for the seismic to simulation work flow. 

Blueback Reservoir was founded in 2005, and started as a geoscience consultancy company. Strong growth has resulted in the opening of regional offices in Oslo, Bergen, London, Aberdeen, Houston and Calgary, and more locations are continuously being considered.

The consulting services have evolved to include the whole G&G & RE work flow. From seismic interpretation, electromagnetic integration, structural modeling, geomodeling, well planning, volume calculations to flow simulation etc. Our strong domain knowledge in these areas are offered in a variety of services, from technical support / mentoring / best practices / expert advice, to integrated studies for field development planning and production optimization.

The software team was established in 2007, and is focusing on developing Petrel plug-in products using the Ocean* development framework from Schlumberger. In addition, the software team has grown rapidly to also provide extensive consulting services for software development using Ocean.
